Our Beliefs

GUIDING MINISTRY VALUES

We acknowledge the Bible to be the true and authoritative Word of God, revealing God’s plan for His creation, for mankind and for the establishment of His kingdom on the earth. “The sum of Your word is truth and every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.”- Psalm 119:160 (NASV)

We uphold the preeminent importance of seeking God’s presence in prayer, individually and corporately, in manner and purpose consistent with that revealed in the scriptures“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name… Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.” – Psalm 105: 1,4

We encourage each other in learning to recognize God’s voice in our hearts and to obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. “…because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” – Romans 8:14 (NIV)

We accept the oneness of the Body of Christ and hold in high regard activity that contributes to maintaining the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit…” – Ephesians 4: 3,4 (NIV)

We affirm the central role of the family in passing faith from generation to generation by teaching the truth and training in love. “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”– Deuteronomy 6:6,7 (NIV)

We recognize that the broad calling of God on this congregation from its inception has been threefold: 1.) Education and training of its members – to know God and the Word of God, 2.) Ministries of mercy to the poor – express the love of Christ and His body and 3.) Multiply factors for missions – to send and support missionaries and to facilitate participation in missions as acts of obedience to the Lord in fulfilling the Great Commission.

We understand that it is God alone who gives the increase, (I Corinthians 3:7) and that the Spirit gives life and the flesh counts for nothing. (John 6:63) We value the three qualities that surpass all else: faith, hope and love. (I Corinthians 13:13)

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
