Securing the roof against tropical storm winds and earthquakes is the first step in the efforts to protect this historic landmark. We work and give so that future generations will enjoy this treasure of our history and centerpiece of our modern community.
Mokuaikaua is the first Christian church established in the Hawaiian Islands by the work of missionaries, including Thomas Hopu and three other young Hawaiian missionaries, along with Asa Thurston and the New Englander missionaries. To this day Hawaiian dance, language and culture are celebrated in the classes and worship services held at Mokuaikaua.
